Why did you choose Velveteen Fleece for your Jackets?

Fleece has been a very popular fabric since the 80s when it was first discovered for hiking jackets. It is a soft-napped, insulating fabric made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET), a hydrophobic fiber that repels water. All MerriMane jackets use a special fused fleece that we have coined as Velveteen Fleece. It is is highly breathable and light weight, but provides all the warmth and protection your children need day to day.  Our fleece doesn’t itch the skin, which is critical to our sensory-friendly commitment, and especially important for babies and children who have warmer core body temperatures. 

Our fleece is also designed to retain much of its insulating properties when wet, but it will dry quickly.  That means milk, rain, juice, or drool can be wiped away and dry quickly.

Lastly, we thought of parents when selecting our Velveteen Fleece, because MerriMane jackets are durable, machine-washable, and anti-pill. You can rest assured our Velveteen Fleece looks clean and crisp and feels luxurious wear after wear, wash after wash.

How warm is the jacket?

Our signature jackets are made of 2 fused fleece layers of our signature Velveteen Fleece™ which is as soft as a bunny rabbit!  

MerriMane jackets are perfect for year-round use because they are thin enough for a cool summer night yet thick enough to keep your child cozy as temperatures dip below 40 degrees.  With wider armholes, you can always add an extra layer to keep your child extra warm and they will still fit comfortably in a carseat/stroller. Lightweight warmth is the key for comfy kids. 

Can I machine wash MerriMane jackets?

Yes of course, this is a primary brand pillar for us – EASY CARE! 

Wash the jacket in cold water with a mild detergent. Fleece’s natural wicking power makes it quite dry when it finishes in the wash so we recommend hanging it or laying it flat to finish drying.  If you are in a rush, as many parents are, tumble dry on low and you will be ready to go in no time.

 

ARE YOUR CLOTHES TESTED AND CERTIFIED FOR SAFETY?

Yes. We love children and want to ensure their safety. All of our garments comply with the current CPSC requirements.  Please contact us for more information.

ARE YOUR CLOTHES FIRE-RETARDANT?

Our jackets are not considered fire-retardant as we have not treated our fabrics with the chemicals needed for that certification. Instead, MerriMane has chosen to use 100% polyester fleece which is naturally flame resistant.
